The Melbourne Cup Carnival will end on a dance floor. The Victoria Racing Club confirmed on Monday that FISHER will close the 2026 Carnival, headlining The Elms Live Stage presented by Maccas on TAB Champions Stakes Day.
The set is billed as the Off the Rails party. After the final race on Saturday 7 November, the Flemington racecourse rails will open and the crowd will spill onto the track for the closing set — included with a General Admission ticket, with entry starting at $65 per person.
"FISHER delivered the most electrifying and memorable performance for thousands of event goers at Flemington last year, and we can't wait for him to return to headline the Off the Rails party celebrating the final day of the 2026 Melbourne Cup Carnival, complementing world-class racing on TAB Champions Stakes Day," VRC chief executive Kylie Rogers said.
FISHER, who played the same closing slot at the 2025 Carnival, was rather more concise about it in his own statement: "Last year's Melbourne Cup Carnival closing party was epic; the crowd was electric. I can't wait to do it all again at Flemington Racecourse on November 7. Giddy up."
The Carnival itself runs across four days at Flemington. It opens with Howden Victoria Derby Day on Saturday 31 October, followed by Lexus Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday 3 November, Crown Oaks Day on Thursday 5 November, and TAB Champions Stakes Day on Saturday 7 November.
Booking a headline DJ for the final day is part of a broader play. The Carnival has leaned harder into live music and after-racing entertainment to widen its appeal beyond form guides and fascinators, and to give the last day of a long week a draw of its own. The club has said more of the entertainment lineup will be revealed in the coming months.
For now the headline act is locked in, and the pitch is simple enough: watch the racing, then walk out onto the turf where it happened. Whether that is reason enough to buy a ticket in November will be settled on the day — but for a Carnival that trades on spectacle, closing with a DJ on the track is at least on brand.
